Having been at the Ice Rink only a few days earlier to see Big Country it was a quick return to catch Status Quo for the first time as they promoted their successful return with the In The Army now album and an altered line up with Rhino Edwards on bass and Jeff Rich on drums.
My brother was a massive Quo fan so I had heard all the albums from their classic 70’s rock period whereas they were now much more in their “pop” period with the synthizers featuring much more prominently on the new album.
Support act was Waysted who I’d seen in a different format supporting Iron Maiden in 1984 but who were now in their fully “Americanised” hair metal phase and again with a more prominent keyboard sound than previous.
A great gig with a good line up and I have gone on to see Quo another three times at the City Hall, Alnwick castle and on the reunion tour of 2013 at the O2 in Glasgow.
